Happy Monday beautiful people! How amazing was the weather this weekend in London! Thank you Mr Sun!

So this weekend I tried two new things.  Firstly on Saturday the BF and I had a tour of Parliament.  Ever since some friends of ours recommended it I have wanted to go. So on Thursday I just decided to diarise it and booked us in for a Saturday afternoon tour.  The tour took 1 hour and 15 mins and was absolutely fab! I am not a history buff but I loved learning really interesting facts about how Parliament actually works.

20130701-082913.jpg

The second new thing I tried was Brunch at the W Hotel London with the girls on Sunday. Brunch at the W Hotel was fab in so many ways!.  The food was good, the atmosphere was relaxed and you get some great tarten slippers to sit back and get cosy. I loved it so much I am definitely going to be coming back here.

So as I am now a budgetnista but still love going out so I decied to create a cheap eat list of my own. So I now have two lists my splash the cash restaurant list and my cheap eats list.. So I am on a mission to discover fabulous cheap eats in and around London. So last week when the BF and I were pottering around town we decided to head into Yalla Yalla for lunch.

Great for- yummy food, a food feast, budgetnistas, a trip to Beirut without the airfare. Go with the BF, your girls or your crazy Arab friend who is missing home.

Unfortunately when we went I only had my Iphone on me so the pictures are slightly blurry.

20130611-143316.jpg

The atmosphere in the restaurant was tres buzzy!! The BF and I popped down on a Saturday afternoon around 1.30pm and only had a 10 min wait for a table.

20130611-143433.jpg

The BF and ate lots and lots and everything was absolutely amazing!!

20130611-143335.jpg

I love the fact that you can share the food. Sharing is caring after all.

I really loved the chicken liver above. Liver is something I enjoy eating if cooked well and this was done well.

Morning beautiful people!!

It is official the sun is shining on us Londoners!  I am sat here typing away and I have no Monday blues as Mr Sun is official.

So one of my favourite meals of the day is breakfast! My principle is you should eat like a Queen at breakfast.  During the week I have porridge but I love the weekends when I indulge and make myself a cooked breakfast.  Now I am not talking about a full english more roasted peppers, mushrooms, salmon and bagels or yummy omelette! So you can imagine my delight when I got invited to Roast to have a mid-week proper breakfast!

20130603-080726.jpg

Roast is situated within the wonderful Borough Market.  So it’s a great place to start the day before pottering around the market or around London.

The restaurant itself is in a large airy room, with some good views weather permitting.

I was surprised that mid-week it was extremely buzzy with city types of the nice variety and non city types (me).  This is going to sound extremely weird but I absolutely loved the fact that the tables were dressed.  I find so often with brunch/breakfast restaurants they do not dress the table unless it is a hotel breakfast.  Breakfast is an occassion and at Roast it certainly felt that way.

20130603-082223.jpg

We started off breakfast with some warm bread.  I absolutely loved the bread with the fruit pieces!

20130603-082259.jpg

I opted to have the eggs Benedict for breakfast as it is a classic fav! It certainly did not disappoint and I happily munched away and cleared my plate.

20130603-080619.jpg

20130603-080706.jpg

Without a doubt Roast was the perfect start to my day!

Deets: Monday- Friday 7.00 am-11am/Saturday 8.00-11.00am.  Contact on 0845 034 7300. Address The Floral Hall, Stoney Street, London SE1 1TL. Nearest tube is London Bridge.

Have a fabulous day everyone! Ps If you are on twitter and want to check out what to diarise just use the #tlldiariseit

Great for – wine lovers who want to get clued up. Fun event with the girls or a the BF.

20130528-193956.jpg

So I got invited to The Truscott Wine Club at the Truscutt Arms a few hump days ago and got the chance to take someone with me so I went along with my BFF (not to be confused with the BF). It was actually perfectly timed as that particular week was a tough one so turning it to winewednesday was needed!

The Truscott Arms is a charming pub in Maida Vale.  The wine tasting is held in an upstairs room within the pub and involves tasting wine along with nibbling on some light snacks.  Raul Diaz ,former head sommelier at Michel Roux Jr, is the man who runs the evening.

Having tried a few wining tasting events this one is where I had a fab night and came away with plenty of knowledge.  I was so impressed with how much I learnt I couldn’t resist showing off to the BF my new found knowledge. So thank you Mr Diaz!

20130528-191950.jpg

We tried six different wines, three whites and three reds. The tasting was really interactive and unlike some tastings no question is too stupid and it was really interactive.  The evening was very relaxed, fun and easy. As well as the wine, light finger food is served.  Just what you need after a hard days work.
20130528-191925.jpg

20130528-192000.jpg

After wine tasting my BFF and I had din dins at the pub. Despite been hump day the restaurant was buzzy.

I opted for fish, it’s not something I normally order in a restaurant as I am a meat lover. I was not left disappointed with the food.

20130528-192028.jpg

My BFF opted for the chicken and as her plate was clear I am sure that she enjoyed it.

20130528-192042.jpg

I had a really lovely evening with my darling bestie and felt feeling less frazzle dazzled. Wine and food make many a drab hump day fun.

Deets: The Truscott Wine Club at The Truscott Arms 55 Shirland Road, W9 2JD.   £30 per person held monthly in the Truscott Arms. Contact 020 7266 9198

THE PIG HOTEL- Great for a romantic couples  or family luxury staycation. Excellent for a spot of an amazing foodie lunch or dinner with friends/family or the BF.

Happy hump day beautiful people.  Hope everyone where ever you were you enjoyed the weekend.  To my fellow Londoners how amazing was the sunshine on Bank Holiday Monday!

This week’s diarise it is all about The Pig Hotel.  I was lucky enough to be invited down to tour and have lunch with some fellow bloggers at hotel and it is official I am in love with the place.

It is an amazing hideaway to escape the city of London for a perfect staycation.  When life gets busy and the buzz gets too much The Pig Hotel is a perfect place to escape.  Tucked away in the New Forest with lots of beautiful rolling hills is a tranquil oasis that is also a foodie paradise.

The day itself started with a tour of the gardens by the great head chef Mr James Golding.  As chef cvs go, Mr Golding has worked at some fab restaurants including J Sheekey, Le Caprice and Soho House New York, so there is no doubt this head chef really does know what he is doing.

20130503-175233.jpg

True foodies know it is rare for any great restaurant to have so many fresh ingredients growing on site.  Before we even had lunch my taste buds were tantalised by the smells, colours and textures of the fresh herbs, vegetables and fruit-growing on site.

What is even better is that anything that is not grown or sourced on site, is sourced within 25 miles.  25 miles and the Pig Hotel’s own gardens produces a 25 mile menu were you literally want everything on the menu.

20130503-182222.jpg

Despite pottering down on a Tuesday afternoon the restaurant was positively buzzing.  The restaurant itself is in a light airy room with those amazing wooden tables we would all love to own.

20130503-180334.jpg

We started off lunch with piggy bits and if this was all I had I would have left feeling delighted.  The Crispy pork belly and spiced honey were amazing.

20130507-200640.jpg

When it came to choosing my starter I was so spoilt for choice by the 25 mile menu that I ended up resorting to a silent innie minnie moe at the table.  As a result of my innie and minnies I ended up choosing the Hand dived south coast scallops and streaky bacon to start.

20130507-111245.jpg

The scallops ticked all my boxes, beautifully presented  with the most amazing colours and most importantly they were tasty.  In fact my scallops were so good I ate every morsel on the plate bar one piece of beetroot so as not to look like a greedy piggy.

20130507-112655.jpg

The other starters on the table looked equally as appetising and when I am next down I am definitely going to try something else on the menu.

For my main I opted for the Fennel Roasted Fillet of Hampshire Pork and , after all it is called the Pig Hotel, so I thought it would be rude not to.  Pork is not something I often have at restaurants as so many restaurants and people get it so wrong.  My filet of pork was tender and my apple mash was smooth with a lovely hint of apple running through it.

20130507-200247.jpg

PIGS IN BLANKETS

As the name suggests The Pig Hotel is a hotel.  The hotel has 26 bedrooms,  16 of which are in the main house and 10 in the newly completed old stables and yards.  I myself I am not really a fan of the word hotel as it doesn’t do some hotels justice.  My replacement word for ‘hotel’ is a work in progress, so please do bear with me.  In the meantime I would say The Pig Hotel, is warm and inviting, a place that is home from home with all the luxuries.  If you want huge fireplaces, laid back, charming and fun this is the place to come.

20130507-110836.jpg

After lunch we went to tour The Pig in the wall, which is located within southampton’s medieval walls.  The Pig in the wall has 12 bedrooms and just like its sister horel has that luxury home from home feeling.  Following the superb lunch we had at The Pig hotel I could have sworn an oath that there was no way I could eat another morsel of food. Wrong, wrong and wrong on so many levels.

20130507-194315.jpg

As well as touring the gorgeous rooms at The Pig in the wall, we were offered beautiful cakes, which just screamed my name. I would love to say i resisted, but they looked far to good to say no, and also my favourite of favourites bannana cake was on offer. So i happily tucked in and I as did everyone else.

20130507-194709.jpg

Everyone in life should have that feeling you get when you go somewhere amazing that is such an ecape from reality you just do not want to return to reality.  Those types of holidays and moments in life are sometimes few and far between, so I am super happy to have experienced one last week at The Pig Hotel.  Ps I loved it so much it is going to be diarise it again but this time as a pig in blankets for myself and the BF.

Live, love and learn.

VOLTAIRE. Great for: An amazing night out with the girls/ the boys and anyone you can fit into a Vault. The more the merrier I say! Perfect for anyone who loves Champagne

Happy hump day folks! So it’s time to get the little red book out again to diarise an amazing bar called Voltaire for some fab vaultshots and plenty of bubbles.

Voltaire is a new champagne and cigar terrace bar in London. I popped along last hump day to have a peruse and a light lunch and cocktails. I left feeling super buzzed.

20130425-142346.jpg

I absolutely fell in love with the alley way at Voltaire, it had that outside inside feeling, which for us Londoners is perfect.

20130425-142338.jpg

I had lunch in one of the Vaults and loved the intimacy of it. This is a place where you a group of friends can go wild in sumptuous surroundings.

20130425-142353.jpg

Voltaire champagne of choice is Pommery. I have never had Pommery champagne before but I really loved it. Now I am no champagne connoisseur so my descriptive words are not flowery but I would describe it as light and not too eggy (I did say I was not a connoisseur).
Whilst at the bar I opted for a goat’s cheese salad, I was rather tempted by a few other things on the menu mainly the club sandwich but as I am working on shedding my winter body I resisted. The goat’s cheese salad was fresh and the goat cheese was smooth.

20130425-142324.jpg

20130426-132625.jpg

Apart from champagne, you can have the most amazing cocktails at Voltaire.  Find me a girl who does not love cocktails and I will eat my Prada bag 😉

20130426-132838.jpg

Symphony No 9 cocktail left me on a high note singing oh la la la.  It was absolutely divine. The cocktail was so huge I could practically swim in it.

Japanese Garden

Japanese Garden

If you are rather Old fashioned then the Old Fashioned is a great cocktail, smooth and slightly more sweet than New Fashioned.

Old Fashioned cocktail

Old Fashioned cocktail

My only problem is when I am going to find another date in the diary to diarise it with my craziest friends.

Deets:- Voltaire is located in the Crown Plaza Hotel, but has it’s own separate entrance. 19 New Bridge Street, EC4V 6DB
Don’t forget to bring an ipod so you can dock it and dance the night away.
Ps Just remember what happens in the Vault stays in the Vault. The headbar man won’t share your secrets.

Happy sunny tuesday! Sun is out and my morning workout is done! Go me! Unfortunately a body is not just for summer and is for life, so morning workouts are one of those things I love to loathe but try to get done and out of the way.

Diarise it

I feel like I haven’t recommend a diarise it and forever so thought it would be perfect to recommend something today. One of my favourite things to eat are burgers! There are so not enough cows in the universe to satisfy my love for burgers, so I love finding new places that do fab burgers to eat.

20130423-090458.jpg

I popped along to Bar Boulud around four weeks ago with one of the most sweetest and craziest girls I know. Unfortunately i have no food porn from the meal as I respected the restaurants no food porn policy.  I tucked into a Frenchie washed down with a yummy glass of red wine.

Deets:- Great for a girlie catch up. An easy lunch with Mumsy or a lunch with the BF. Burgers are reasonably priced at around £12 so not a splash the cash. The restaurant also does other things on its menu. You can find Bar Boulud in the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Knightsbridge.

Have a fabulous day folks.  Enjoy the sunshine.

So I popped along to Borough Market with my mother today. Oh how times have changed. Gone are the days were the only place I would eat is somewhere with a table and chair a la restaurant.  The BF my Mr Michelin starred restaurant lover has thankfully introduced me to the joys of street food.  I have to say I am now really really really into it. Nothing like pottering (which is my fav activity) around a market and eating (which is on my top ten life things to enjoy).

Borough Market is London’s answer to La Boqueria Food market in Barcelona.

20130330-165055.jpg

It is a super crowded with everyone wondering with no sense of direction. I am sure there is an order to this place but I find it better just to potter around and stumble on various findins.  I really fancied a rump steak sandwich for £6.00 (see sign in the picture above) but so did every other Londoner, tourist and alien resident and as I don’t like queueing I gave it a miss. Major sobs. I will have to come back for this on another Saturday.

20130330-165048.jpg

Fresh juice anyone??? This is what I so need after my morning gym sessions.  Wonder if they deliver???

20130330-165251.jpg

Nothing like a glass of mulled wine when it is super cold outside. Super yummy and warming, just what a cold Londoner needs when wandering around the market.

20130330-165007.jpg

I could not resist a slice of Bailey’s cheesecake.  I figured I worked out hard in the morning so the basic formula of input versus output meant I would be at square one.

20130330-171042.jpg

It is a good job you cannot turn big by looking at food. I did manage to resist the above delight.

20130330-165108.jpg

Tea for two anyone?

20130330-165100.jpg

I had an amazing turkey wrap from Wyndham House Poultry. Sorry no pics of said fab wrap, it was so yummy it got munched super quick. (Note to self, one must chew food and remember to take pictures of yummy food for mandatory foodporn.)

Ps major thanks to my two BFFs (you know who you are) and my one BF (you know who you are as well), this post is dedicated to you all. It is official!! I AM BACK!!! Whooop Whooop (said in my normal squeal!)
